My Reflection
64
In the Mirror I see my reflection
your rejection
my objection
just a suggestion
we had a connection
could have been perfection
Love is just an expression
a verbiage salutation
no meaning
all exceptions
just an image of my refection
So who are you?
proud to break a heart
writing in a drunken stupor
not aware of your words
my reflection
your rejection
you feel no sadness
no tears you dare
cause love is just a word
it doesnt mean you care

You have managed to pen beautiful expressions of a tough time! This is a marvellous example and proof positive that writing can be therapeutic! I shall visit your site often.
Nice. I love the dialogue...concept is great and its real. Check me out when you get a chance.
So many deep things already said here. Starting with this hub itself, the words are written in red, highlighted with shadows, written with the thorn that pricked your finger as you picked up the wilted rose.
Reflections have a way of changing based on the light they are seen in, the lighting will change, it always does. This very moment may well reflect later in a different light the very thing you are seeking. When the smoke clears from the mirror.
You have expressed your pain, hurt and anger with great emotion and force. From that, a powerful poem you have written. Dori, know that the sun rises in the morn. I feel for you.
Dori,
Your comment about wisdom reminds me of the words of Ben Franklin, "After crosses and losses, men grow humbler and wiser."
I have a friend whose favorite saying is "scar tissue is better than brain tissue." Scars tissue comes from experience. With reflection we turn the scars of experience into wisdom. Wisdom will come with reflection on your experiences.
Dori,
When we look in the mirror, what do we see? Our reflection or the reflection of who we want to be? Why do we seek perfection? It is surely a path for disaster. There is no such thing as a perfect relationship or perfect love. And if we seek that, then we are doomed to suffer. Love is between two humans and it means accepting blemishes, faults and all the other imperfections that makes us humans.
Why is rejection such a difficult pill to swallow? Because we saw a reflection that was not real. Facing reality is tough. I can honestly say that each and every time I have been rejected, with sufficient passage of time, I actually rejoiced. Rejection was always because there was a poor fit. While I did not want to see or admit it, it does not mean it did not exist. And being free allowed me (or maybe forced me) to seek better connections.
There is so much emotion in your words. It is so difficult for us to actually look in the mirror and make an honest assessment of who is looking back at us.
You certainly are a very caring and sensitive person. You deserve someone equally caring and sensitive. Don't dwell on what did not work, be open to new and better relationships. Quit looking for perfection and look for understanding and support.
pretty sure I am loving this poem, You sound like me! Great hub
This is a very good poem.
I loved it and totally got it. Wow, deep within it came and I can't tell you how much I love this poem. You are truly gifted.
Warmest and deep hug for you dear Lady. You deserve the best you know. 3 is a crowd and anyone who is still walking backwards in blame cannot move forward in gratitude. Whazup with all these emotionally unavailable guys? Well, live and learn. Years ago I went on this dating site and within a short period of time, realized I could work through all sorts of my own relationship issues with fewer consequences. Perhaps you too were making sure there was distance? You did tell him to keep CG - that meant to me that you saw the red flags. Love brings out the best in you Darlin'! Just a little chemistry can be an eye opener to get ourselves ready.
Sure hope this doesn't mean bc no longer means "be careful"... Afraid to say anything else right here, right now - too many years cultivating candor. Got wise, make sure I find out the facts. Are you OK my dear?
